PRESS RELEASE

Token: an object of value, a memento, a symbol, a validation.
There’s something special about a little treasure that fits in the palm of your hand; a coin, a stone, a valued collectable. I’ve always been entranced by these things. This inspired me to create my own tokens, drawing from a variety of artifacts from different cultures, such as the Chinese and Roman coins, the Fleur des Lis, and my favorite, the Tibetan seal.
I think it’s memorable leaving your mark on a document with a personalized wax seal. Tibetan monks used to stamp their sacred seal on letters which couriers hand delivered between monasteries. I fashioned one of these, and carved its imprint into a wooden block. We stamp them in resin and set them in a bezel, creating an old world, poetic charm.
Overall the fall 2011 collection is very powerful stuff. It is metal driven, predominantly a combination of sterling silver and copper. The bright silver versus the heavily oxidized copper provides a beautiful contrast. Copper is also a primary element. I find that very cool!
Ancient religious cultures worked in copper, largely due to its availability but also because they believed it acted as a conductor of energy with healing properties.
These tokens are a gift from my heart to yours. I hope you enjoy them for many years to come.
All the best,
Karyn
